Pool Safety Sign

A pool safety sign is something overlooked by many pool owners but they can be quite useful.  It is usually assumed that signage needs to only be used in public areas and public pools, but this is not always the case.  It is the law in some municipalities to have signs posted even where private pools are present.

Drowning is the second leading cause of death in North America so it goes without saying that safety should be your first priority when owning and operating a pool.  Posting a sign should be a step you take in achieving this goal. You might save a life just by taking a bit of time and energy.

It's no secret that pools can be dangerous but steps can be taken to minimize the dangers, and a sign is one that shouldn't be overlooked.  The goal is to prevent accidents from happening but having a sign posted could be a big reason the pool owner is not liable if an accident does occur.  It's a small part you can take to add a layer of safety in your overall approach to providing a place for children and adults to enjoy!

There are many options for signage, depending on your unique requirements.  Take some time to assess your swimming pool environment and think about what kind of sign would be useful.  You can find just about any type of sign you can imagine.

Pool Safety Signs Options

There are many messages to choose from, all offering something a little bit different.  The signs that throw in a bit of humour are great to get the attention of people that might be visiting your pool but also deliver an important, possibly lifesaving message.  They can also offer an aesthetic purpose if you want to create a more professional look or add some colour.

Most signs are designed to be mounted either on a fence adjacent to the pool or along the wall of a pool shed or similar.  If mounting hardware isn't included it can be found quite easily at a local hardware store.  A good place to post a sign is near an entrance and at a level where children can read it easily.

A pool safety sign is something you consider in creating that safe pool environment.  It takes just a bit of planning and precaution to create a safe swimming area, and once that is done you can take comfort in knowing you took every step possible and allow you to enjoy your swimming pool worry free!
